Introducing Flexible Ship Options from Checkout by Amazon

Checkout by Amazon now enables you to create your own shipping option descriptions instead of the standard names used by Checkout by Amazon such as "Standard”, "Expedited”, "One-Day”, or "Two-Day."  This means that your customers will see names such as "Free Ground Shipping,", “FedEx Overnight”, etc. and the shipping charges will be calculated using the shipping rates you assigned to each custom name.

By using Flexible Ship Options, you can set up to 20 custom shipping names per single shipping destination and assign them separate shipping service levels and shipping rates:

• Assign up to seven different names to the Standard and Expedited service levels.
• Assign up to five different names to the One-Day and Two-Day service levels.
• Create custom shipping names that are up to 100 characters long.

You can create these custom shipping names for each distinct shipping region, with up to 20 custom names for shipping within the Continental U.S. and another 20 custom shipping names for shipping outside the U.S.

Here is an example of how a customer will see the custom shipping options on the order summary page. As you can see, this merchant has renamed the existing Checkout by Amazon shipping options:

Announcing Alternative Payment Method from Checkout by Amazon

With Checkout by Amazon, customers have multiple options when it comes to using the information stored in their Amazon.com accounts to buy on your site. In addition to the existing method of selecting Checkout by Amazon on your shopping cart page, we have added an alternative method that enables customers to select Amazon Payments on the payments page of your standard checkout.

1. Existing Method: Your customers can select Checkout by Amazon on your shopping cart page, login and use either 1-click or standard checkout without leaving your site:

 

2. NEW - Alternative Payment Method: Once customers are done shopping, they can proceed from the shopping cart to your payments page and then select Amazon Payments as a payment option. In this option, customers briefly leave your site to go to a co-branded Amazon Payments page where they select their payment method from those saved in their Amazon.com accounts. After the transaction, customers are returned to a confirmation page on your site.

  By offering your customers both the ways, you can facilitate Amazon customers both at the beginning and at the end of the checkout experience and thus get more value out of Checkout by Amazon integration. Learn more.
